These are brilliant, even Glen
likes them and he hates peanut butter, they are fun and easy to make which is a
bonus. The only problem I found with this recipe is that they are too moreish,
diets don’t stand a chance.
Chocolate Peanut Butter
Squares
225g butter, plus a little extra for greasing
300g milk chocolate, broken into bits
350g plain flour
1tsp baking powder
350g soft light brown sugar
175g rolled oats (porridge oats)
1 egg, lightly beaten
400g condensed milk (1 can)
70g peanut butter
- First preheat your oven it needs to be set at 180˚C/350˚F and grease and line a baking tray that is 12”x 8”.
- Sift the flour and the baking powder into a large mixer bowl, and on a medium speed add the butter and mix until you have a breadcrumb consistency. If you don’t have a mixer use your finger tips to rub the butter into the flour until you have the breadcrumb consistency. Stir in the sugar and oats into the mixture and then split the mixture, putting a quarter into a smaller bowl, stir the chocolate into the smaller portion of the mixture and then set aside.
- Stir the egg into the larger portion of the mixture and press it into the bottom of your prepared baking tin/tray and bake for about 15 minutes.
- While the base is baking, in another large bowl mix together the condensed milk and the peanut butter, then once the base is done pour the peanut butter mixture over the top and sprinkle (as best you can, it’s more like random dotting) the remaining chocolate mixture on top, then gently press down. Return to the oven and bake for a further 20 minutes or until the top looks golden brown. Cool in the tin and then cut into squares before you turn them out.
